Three Days Gorilla & Golden Monkey Trekking itinerary

Day1: Half-day Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Meet Universal Ventures Rwanda driver guide and explore kigali city's Craft markets, Kigali Genocide Memorial, and the Kandt House National Museum, Have lunch in the city.

Depart the city to the Volcanoes National Park and proceed for registration. Visit Iby'iwacu Cultural Village to lean more about Rwandan culture and then head to the hotel for overnight stay and relax.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early morning breakfast the driver guide will transfer you to the briefing area at the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park.

The park is a home to 10 habituated gorilla families available for trekking. Also, Volcanoes park covers Rwanda’s share of the great Virunga massif bordering Virunga National Park in Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda.

Spend an hour with these incredible mountain gorillas and then transfer to the hotel for evening stay.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and transfer back to kigali

In the morning after breakfast, you will be transfered again to the briefing area but this time for golden monkey trekking.

Golden monkeys are primates that reside in the Virunga regions of Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo. The golden monkeys are generally more active than the gorillas therefore making it an active tour.

You will get time to take photos as you continue to follow them as they forage for food especially bamboo shoots. Sometimes they are seen getting into the surrounding gardens for potatoes.

However to note is that they are generally not located too far so the trek to their habitat is much more manageable than some of the gorilla families. You will receive a briefing at the park headquarters before you start your golden monkey trek just like the previous day.

After lunch the driver guide will transfer you to Kigali to return to your hotel or take your flight home.
