This cultural and historical experience includes visits to some of the city’s most important landmarks. Explore the Richard Kandt House Museum, which offers insights into Rwanda’s colonial history, followed by a deeply moving visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the Campaign Against Genocide Museum, both of which chronicle Rwanda’s tragic past and incredible resilience. Continue to explore the vibrant craft markets, local food markets, and conclude your day with a relaxing stop at M. Hotel. This introduction to Kigali provides a perfect blend of history, culture, and modern-day Rwandan life.
Day 2: Musanze Caves Exploration and Waterfall Retreat
Depart Kigali at 8:00 AM and travel north to Musanze, one of Rwanda’s most scenic regions. Your first experience of the day will be exploring the Musanze Caves, a fascinating natural attraction formed by ancient volcanic activity. The caves offer a unique underground adventure, where you’ll walk through dark, cool tunnels lined with dripping water, rocky ceilings, and echoing silence—a thrilling and mystical experience. In the afternoon, unwind at a nearby waterfall, where you can enjoy the tranquil sound of flowing water and take a refreshing swim. After a rejuvenating day immersed in nature, return to your hotel in Musanze for a relaxing overnight stay.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Experience
Rise early for breakfast before being transferred to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi by 6:00 AM. There, park rangers will provide a detailed briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines and assign you to a gorilla group. Your gorilla trekking safari begins shortly after, taking you deep into the misty rainforest in search of one of the habituated mountain gorilla families. Trek durations vary between 1 and 6 hours depending on their movements, but the reward is extraordinary. Once located, you’ll have a magical one-hour encounter with these gentle giants, observing them in their natural environment and taking photos.
Following the trek, enjoy a well-deserved lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village in the afternoon. This cultural stop offers a rich immersion into Rwanda’s traditional heritage. Learn about ancient customs, traditional weddings, local medicine, and engage with captivating dance performances. It’s an inspiring and educational experience that will give you a deeper appreciation for Rwandan culture. Return to your hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Lake Kivu Discovery and Return to Kigali
After a leisurely breakfast, depart at 9:00 AM for a visit to Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s largest and most scenic lake, located in Gisenyi near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Enjoy a boat ride across the calm waters to explore several of the lake’s picturesque islands. You’ll also visit the natural hot springs, where geothermal heat warms the waters—perfect for a traditional local massage said to offer therapeutic benefits. Savor a fresh lunch by the lakeside, featuring locally sourced fish straight from Lake Kivu.
Before heading back to Kigali, take time to visit the border area between Rwanda and the DRC for a glimpse into the region’s geographical and cultural connections. In the afternoon, drive back to Kigali where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, depending on your travel schedule.

They contacted me and advised me what was needed for the tour via WhatsApp. Additionally, they were patient in answering all of my questions. The driver Shadady was skilled and knowledgeable. He was the best!! The porters helped me make it to the top to see the gorillas after having breathing issues due to the high altitude. We trekked up the mountain for 2 hours because the gorillas kept moving. We were able to see the silverback!! The guide Francis was knowledgeable and ensured we were all okay. I would highly recommend this company for your needs. My husband and I had an amazing experience!!Posted on Anona WVerified Exciting adventure with expert guides! The gorilla trek exceeding my expectations. Our driver and guide, Christian, did a great job of navigating busy traffic to get us safely to and from Volcanoes National Park. He managed the gorilla permits and park fees so we did not have to think about it. The trek was the adventure of a lifetime! The expert guide and gorilla trackers found our gorilla family right away and primed us on how to behave. Porters were friendly and available to carry bags and provide assistance as needed. Trekking in the park involved some slipping & sliding on roots, so I think you have to be ok with falling down. After the trek, Christian met us with a thoughtful refreshment and took us to a delicious restaurant.
